BIOGRAPHY
Dr Victor Kwok is a compassionate psychiatrist and medical doctor with over 20 years of experience. As co-founder and Medical Director of Private Space Medical, he is dedicated to providing empathetic, patient-focused care.
Previously, he served as the youngest founding Head of Psychiatry at a major 1,400-bed general hospital in Singapore. In this role, he recruited and led a team of psychiatrists and medical doctors, set up the psychiatry ward, and established a specialist Mood & Anxiety Clinic to raise standards of care. His clinical guidelines on insomnia and alcohol addiction were widely adopted by hospitals like Sengkang General Hospital and Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
Driven by a commitment to helping people struggling with eating disorders, Dr Kwok received the Health Manpower Development Program Scholarship from the Ministry of Health to train at Stanford Hospital with renowned Professor James Lock.
Dr Kwok’s passion in mindfulness-based therapy shaped his role during the pandemic. He led resilience programs to support frontline doctors and nurses. Dr Kwok also co-led the Peer Support Network for doctors across SGH, KK Hospital, and Changi Hospital. He was a member of SingHealth’s Joy At Work Taskforce, a high-level committee personally chaired by the Group CEO, to transform the way Singapore hospitals provide care for patients.
An award-winning educator, Dr Kwok was popular with medical students and won the Role Model Award for teaching from the National University of Singapore. He served as an adjunct Assistant Professor at both Lee Kong Chian Medical School and Duke-NUS Medical School.
Kind and caring, he was recognised with several service excellence awards, including the Singapore Health Quality Service Award in both Star and Gold categories.
A strong advocate for mental health, Dr Kwok contributed to national initiatives, including a Ministry workgroup helping people with psychological conditions enter the healthcare workforce. He regularly speaks on mental health topics in local and international schools, voluntary welfare organisations, and corporations.
Dr Kwok’s insights have been featured in media, including The Straits Times, Zaobao, Channel News Asia, and CNA938 Live Radio. He has also been invited to share his clinical expertise in conferences both locally and internationally.
